Internships

Benton County provides many internship opportunities for students of all ages. Student interns can work for school credit and/or a nominal salary in order to combine classroom theory with practical experience in the workplace. Some departments use a pool of applicants and accept internship applications on an ongoing basis. If you don’t see an opportunity listed below for the department you are interested in consider contacting the department directly to learn more about ongoing or future internship opportunities.

Public Works

Public Works is an expansive department within Benton County that covers things like road maintenance, facilities management, transit and more.

Engineering & Surveying Division Student Internship
Performs office and fieldwork of limited technical skill in assisting with engineering, GIS, cartographic, or surveying projects. Projects include road construction, bridge construction, data collection, possibly some design. Performs other work as
required.

Natural Areas, Parks and Events

The Parks Department occasionally uses interns for data gathering and special projects that either are predetermined or can be presented to the Department for review and confirmation.

Parole & Probation Case Monitor Student Internship
This position works under the general supervision of a Parole and Probation Sergeant and Deputy and assists Community Corrections staff in the supervision of adult corrections clients who reside at the Transition Center and other Transitional Housing in order to protect the community and assist in the rehabilitation process. Interns in the DA’s Office will work with crime victims, witnesses, help prepare subpoenas, and possibly assist attorneys in trial preparation.
